Unflavored Miralax brand and the generic equivalents are acceptable for Passover without Passover certification.

The medication and cosmetics letter now states that hair mousse must be chometz-free. However, the shopping guide still states that it is fine for Passover. The Passover status of hair mousse has changed from last year. In fact, it does need to be chometz -free but to the best of our knowledge, hair mousse does not contain any alcohol or other chometz ingredients.

cRc Quinoa Policy for 2013

Last year there were a few different options for the use of quinoa on Pesach. This year the Star K has certified certain productions of quinoa. As such, only those packages that bear the Star K –P on the label are recommended by the cRc for 2013. All other packages, even those packed by the same manufacturer, are not recommended for Pesach this year.

The Star-K quinoa is being packed in twelve ounce boxes under the brand names Quinoa Corp. - Ancient Harvest Brand and Setton Farms and in sixteen ounce boxes under the Natural Earth Products label.  It is also available wholesale under the brand names Andean Natural and Quinoa Corp. - Ancient Harvest Brand.  All of the above is only acceptable when bearing the Star-K symbol and bearing the words “Kosher for Passover.”

If someone still has quinoa that was accepted by the cRc last year, it may be used this year as well. However, one should make sure that it is not infested with insects.

There is some conflicting information on the Passover Shopping Guide regarding frozen fruit. The guide stated that frozen fruit is acceptable if it is not sweetened while the FAQ’s state that is can be sweetened with sugar.
Actually, frozen fruit may be sweetened with sugar but if it contains other sweeteners, it must have a reliable Passover certification.

K-Cup coffees and teas that are not decaffeinated and not flavored are fine for Passover use even without passover certification. The brewers may not be used on Yom Tov or Shabbos and the brewer must be one that is only used for Passover.

Joyva products are certified by the Kof K during the year but they remove their certification for Pesach due to the corn starch being used.

Real Lemon and Real Lime brand juice concentrate is KLP even without the "P" on the label. This only applies to this brand.

The following are some brands of raisins that do not require special Pesach certification if they are not oil treated. The OU alone is sufficient. The "P" is not required.

  • Del Monte: natural and golden
  • Dole
  • Fisher Nut
  • Great Value
  • Jewel
  • Kroger
  • Market Basket
  • Market Pantry
  • Member's Mark
  • Price Chopper
  • Publix
  • Ralph's
  • Setton
  • Stop & Shop
  • Trader Joe's: Raisins, ( also Bing cherries, fancy dried nectarines, fancy dried pears)
  • Winn Dixie

Last year there were some varieties of Gerber Baby Foods that were acceptable for Pesach with only the OU on the label (not certified for Passover). The OU now only accepts all baby foods when bearing the Passover certification on the label.

Chia Seeds are acceptable for Passover use even without specific passover certification as long as they are raw and there are no added Passover / kosher sensitive ingredients.
